I seized the opportunity to enroll in the Interaction Design Studio course during my second semester at POSTECH. Our class, a mosaic of seven students from South Korea, Indonesia, and Vietnam, ventured into the shadows of design, united by a shared quest for innovation.

Chapter I: Theory
In the first half of the semester, my friends and I plunged into the murky depths of the philosophical, ethical, societal, and political facets of engineering design.

From this exploration, we emerged with a chilling theme: food waste, a reflection of our fractured relationship with sustenance. The design process unfolded in the shadows of the second half, where concepts morphed into tangible forms, each step echoing with purpose.

Chapter II: Design
Our team fractured into two distinct factions: Technical and Design. The Technical group immersed themselves in the life and behaviors of the black soldier fly, unraveling its secrets. Meanwhile, the Design group focused on crafting 3D models in Fusion 360, visualizing the necessary modules and workflows that emerged from the research. Two factions, one goal: to solve the food waste problem organically and insecttually.

As the leader of the Design group, I collaborated with two other students, and together we converged, constructing a physical model from the simple materials and tools we could scavenge from the shadows.
